The Laboratory of Dr. Margarida Barroso (@barrosolab) has an outstanding job opportunity for a post-doctoral research associate at the Department of Molecular and Cellular Physiology, Albany Medical College, Albany, NY. The candidate will be part of a NIH-funded multidisciplinary research team, including biomedical engineers and cancer researchers, to develop fluorescence lifetime imaging (FLIM) to investigate the influence of tumor cell heterogeneity on breast cancer therapy and resistance. The candidate will study the role of intra-tumor heterogeneity in drug-receptor target engagement using fluorescence lifetime FRET in vitro and in vitro imaging of HER2 positive breast cancer cells and tumors.
The post-doctoral researcher will be responsible for the characterization and validation of the visible or near-infrared (NIR) anti-HER2 conjugates using FLIM-FRET in vitro imaging in 2D cell culture and 3D bioprinted tumor heterogeneous systems as well as in tumor xenografts in vivo to quantify receptor engagement in cancer cells (2D and 3D). The candidate will also be responsible for cancer cell culture and growth assays, confocal and two-photon FLIM microscopy, optical imaging and HER2 tumor biology related experiments. The post-doctoral researcher should have strong expertise in the field of cancer research (ex. tumor xenografts), receptor biology (ex. HER2, EGFR) and fluorescence imaging (ex. FRET, FLIM) microscopy and optical imaging.
