Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced individual to be a part of our protein engineering team. Protein engineering is a key component for translating our discovery into therapeutic application. As Senior Scientist, you are expected to use structural knowledge and biochemistry to reach mechanistic insights of how our systems work both in vitro and in vivo, and employ directed evolution approaches to engineer our lead systems to meet therapeutic needs. you will be working with highly interdisciplinary teams to meet deadlines, achieve team objectives and demonstrate key results. Previous industry experiences are highly preferred. Key Responsibilities: Perform biochemical and mechanistic characterizations to gain structure-function insights Leverage the structure information to design mutational libraries Establish mammalian cell based screening or selection platform for evolving our lead systems towards therapeutic benefits Interact and manage collaborations with both internal teams and CROs Mentor, train, and coach junior team members Preferred Qualifications: PhD in biochemistry, structure biology, bioengineering, or a related field Demonstrated track record across multiple projects in enzyme characterization and engineering Extensive knowledge of protein purification, biophysical characterization, protein structure and function relationship Proficiency with biochemical (enzymatic activity, protein: nucleic acid interactions) and bioanalytical (DLS, DSF, SEC-MALS) methods to evaluate protein quality/stability Experience with mammalian tissue culture and mammalian cell reporter systems Demonstrated success in leading projects and mentoring junior team members Ability to think strategically and execute tactically Integrity, creativity, drive, and collaboration Ability to start as soon as possible Strong knowledge of CRISPR gene editing technologies, DNA nuclease structure, function and engineering Familiarity in structural modeling and design Our Values: Our values govern the work we do at Arbor, and we’re hoping that they resonate as strongly with you as they do with us! Astonishingly Connected: The best work happens when we do it together. At Arbor, we believe strong, clear communication is crucial to our success and emboldens collaboration in all of us.
