Postdoctoral Research Scholar in Neuroscience Full-time
Description
The Department of Psychology at Arizona State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scholar to join the laboratory of Dr. Jessica Verpeut.
The postdoctoral research scholar will work on examining neural signaling, synaptic plasticity, and behavior.
Essential Duties:
The project will involve analyzing neural pathways involved in development and behavior with a focus on distal cerebellar signaling.
Conduct neuroscience techniques including surgical implantations, viral delivery, electrophysiology, and calcium imaging.
Ability to take initiative, work independently, communicate effectively, evaluate, and analyze data.
Review professional literature to design appropriate methodologies, techniques, and procedures.
Be an active member in research group activities (e.g., participate in lab meetings, mentor students).
Maintain proper laboratory data and records.
The ideal candidate will have a strong neuroscience background with a proven publication record and a minimum of 3 years of experience performing patch clamp electrophysiological studies in brain slices, rodent handling, data analysis, and preparation of manuscripts and grant applications. Additional experience with behavioral testing for social behavior and cognition, machine learning, viral manipulation of neural circuits, calcium imaging, or neural structure analysis is desired.
The position is full-time, fiscal-year (12-month), benefits-eligible appointment with no tenure implications. Anticipated start date is February 1, 2021.
