Beam is seeking a talented Scientist/Senior Scientist with extensive experience in virus biology and genetics as well as experience engineering viral vectors. The applicant will join the Experimental Virology group and he/she will take an active role in both the planning and execution of research activities related to the discovery and development of novel solutions for in vivo gene delivery. This work will be performed as part of a larger multidisciplinary team effort and strong communication and collaboration skills are required. Engineer, validate, and optimize viral systems for transgene delivery in cell culture models.
Design and generate biological reagents and systems including mammalian cell lines and viral stocks.
Work with other groups and platforms, as needed, to quantify and QC viral production with qPCR/ddPCR, flow cytometry, cellular assays, confocal microscopy, and/or other methods.
Contribute to the scientific strategy, discussion, culture, and output of the team.
Document, present, and communicate scientific findings to the team and broader audiences.
Develop deep domain expertise through literature and stay current with new developments in the field.
A Ph.D. in Virology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or equivalent with a minimum of two years of experience in
Deep expertise in molecular biology, virology, and familiarity with structural and synthetic biology.
Extensive experience with design, construction, and genetic manipulation of viruses.
Experience with confocal microscopy and flow cytometry a plus.
Excellent communication skills; ability to work independently as well as within a team.
Ability to initiate and direct interactions and collaborations with internal groups.
Strong scientific background and publication record with proven high levels of performance.
