The Program in Sleep Medicine Epidemiology (https://sleep.hms.harvard.edu/research/labs-divisions/program-sleep-medicine-epidemiology-sme) at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School is seeking to expand its research portfolio following an increase in federal funding. We intend to hire several postdoctoral fellows to investigate individual and population-level risk factors for sleep disorders and their impact on cardiometabolic, cognitive, and other outcomes using genetic, statistical, and informatics methods. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to investigate specific topics, including: 1) genetic association analyses (e.g., common and whole-genome sequence associations and polygenetic risk scores) for sleep using questionnaire, actigraphy, and polysomnography data in diverse population-based studies; 2) methodology development addressing precision medicine, including ancestry and sexual dysmorphism of sleep disorders; 3) multi-omics (epigenomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics) approaches elucidating causal/mediating molecular pathways for sleep; and 4) multi-site biobank-scale analyses examining sleep disorders and related comorbidities using electronic health record data. The Harvard Division of Sleep Medicine has over 100 faculty members and is one of the first dedicated divisions of its kind in the world. The successful candidates will collaborate with a diverse, multi-disciplinary team with expertise in sleep physiology, genetics, and epidemiology from the Harvard community and national/international research consortia.
