Postdoctoral Positions Available
The Choudhary lab (Broad Institute) and the Kiessling lab (MIT) have multiple postdoctoral positions available for candidates with substantial expertise in synthetic organic chemistry, including natural product synthesis, development of reaction methodologies, or polymer chemistry.
Traditionally, small molecules have been developed to inhibit enzyme activity; however, new classes of small molecules, such as multifunctional molecules, are emerging. These exciting compounds can endow new functions to enzymes or proteins via proximity-mediated interactions. Most development of bifunctional molecules, (i.e., chimeras), has been in the context of cancer. Microbial resistance to current therapeutic agents is on the rise, requiring the development of fundamentally new therapeutic modalities. The danger is augmented because the microbial pathogens have developed various mechanisms to evade the host immune system. This project is focused on generating chimeras that will recruit components of the immune system to the microbes, triggering their clearance. The postdoctoral fellows will build on their organic chemistry skills to design and synthesize chimeras that recruit the immune system to deactivate microbial pathogens. Thus, scientists involved in this research will leverage their synthetic skills and acquire expertise in protein biochemistry and biophysics.
Due to the inter-disciplinary nature of the projects, the ability to work well in teams is a requirement. The postdoctoral positions are open immediately and remain open until filled. Interested candidates should submit their:
1. Curriculum vitae
2. Reprints of selected publications
3. Three reference letters
4. A cover letter summarizing their experience, long-term goals, and estimated start date, and a brief summary of why they would be a good fit for this project.
Candidates should submit this information to Amit (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Laura (email@example.com).
