Principal Investigator, Costas Anastassiou, PhD, is seeking a Postdoctoral Scientist to join the team! The Anastassiou Laboratory is affiliated with the Department of Neurosurgery and Neurology, the Center of Neural Sciences and Medicine and the Regenerative Medicine Institute. The lab team studies how the molecular and cellular composition of neurons translates to their phenotype and how these properties combine in brain circuits to produce function or, in the case of disease, dysfunction. The Anastassiou lab has broad background in multi-modal cellular data (electrophysiology, anatomy, transcriptomics) and the development of state-of-the-art computational workflows (statistical learning, optimization and simulation) to understand cellular activity in behavior and disease. The team employs multi-modal single-cell investigations in human circuits to understand cortical function and dysfunction as occurring in diseases like epilepsy.
You will be an essential team member in our ongoing effort to understand how electric fields affect cellular and circuit as well as the development of novel brain stimulation protocols. The core responsibility is to set-up computational simulations and data analysis workflows from slice and in vivo brain physiology in humans.
In this role, you will be working independently but in close cooperation and in consultation on the team of Costas Anastassiou, PhD. You will perform routine and complex laboratory procedures throughout training period. You may develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols. You are also expected to analyze/interpret data and may assist in the preparation of grant proposals. This position participates in publications and presentations as author or co-author. This role is not be responsible for generating grant funds.
