One fully funded post-doctoral position is available at the department of Cell Physiology and Metabolism at the University of Geneva (Faculty of Medecine) in the group of Prof. Perrine Castets. The main interests of the group are to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying the loss of muscle function in systemic conditions and neuromuscular diseases. We pay specific attention to the physiology of neuromuscular junctions (NMJ), the mechanisms underlying their maintenance and remodeling, and the events threatening their function. Projects are mainly based on the analysis of different mouse models to assess muscle function, NMJ physiology and signaling pathways in challenging conditions (nerve injury, fasting…). In vitro analysis of human and mouse muscle cell lines will complement the projects.
Job description: The post-doctoral project will focus on fundamental aspects of NMJ physiology and aim at developing new procedures, including epigenetic analyses, which will be then applied to translational projects.
Qualifications: Candidates should hold a Ph.D. degree and have a strong track record of accomplishment in Epigenetics. Applicants with research experience in the neuromuscular field are encouraged to apply.
Successful candidates will work in the research group led by Perrine Castets, with the ambition to conduct translational challenging projects, with tight interactions with clinical groups of the Hospital of Geneva, as well as several collaborations in Switzerland and outside. The department of Cell Physiology and Metabolism offers an ideal multi-disciplinary place allowing the group to interact and collaborate on numerous aspects of physiology and metabolism, and to benefit from state of the art facilities at the Medical Faculty (epigenetic analysis, proteomics…), which will contribute to the fulfillment of the projects.
