A Research Technician position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Javad Nazarian (https://childrensnational.org/research/labs/nazarian/about) at the brand-new Children’s National Research and Innovation Campus, Children’s National Hospital. This position is expected to play a prominent role within the research program of a brand-new, one-of-a-kind research and innovation hub that drives life-saving discoveries for children who have been diagnosed with Diffuse Midline Gliomas. The ideal candidate is seeking a long-term career within a growing lab, is passionate about applying scientific knowledge in pursuit of a pediatric brain cancer cure, eagerly learns new skills, welcomes new responsibilities, and has excellent time management and project management skills. The Research Technician will perform a variety of routine and specialized laboratory tests, specimen preparations, and experimental procedures for the purpose of research as directed. The Research Technician will have the opportunity to work closely with post-doctoral fellows and other research staff, including principal investigators. Research technicians have the opportunity be co-authors on papers commensurate with their contribution.

Laboratory Work
Perform routine tests under the direction of principal investigator or supervisor.
Record and check results for completeness and accuracy.
Perform tasks that may require familiarity with fundamental techniques and equipment.
Compile information from lab notebooks and journals.
Attend seminars, and lab meetings to expand knowledge of research and laboratory techniques.
Research Planning
Assist with planning specific research protocols and procedures.
Assist staff to develop and troubleshoot new techniques and ideas.
Record Keeping
Maintain a log of work performed
Prepare charts, graphs, and results of studies; compile and help analyze data.
Maintain all required records, reports, statistics, etc.; prepare summary reports as requested.
Education
MS degree in biology or life science related field. Candidates with BS in biology will be considered if they have more the 2 years of research experience.
Experience
At least 2 year of relevant laboratory experience in biology. Preference will be given to those with cancer biology expertise.
Required Skills
Knowledge and working experience with mammalian cell culture, DNA/RNA processing, molecular biology techniques, immunological assays, experience with murine models is not required but will be considered as an advantage.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Strong mathematical skills and an inquiring attitude.
Basic knowledge of lab safety and use of basic lab equipment required.
