A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Michalis Agathocleous at Children’s Research Institute, UT Southwestern Medical Center. The laboratory works on the role of metabolism in hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells, in leukemia initiation, and in the hematopoietic response to infection. We have a unique ability to perform metabolomics in rare cells isolated from tissues (Nature 549:476). We have found several metabolites which are enriched in specific stem or progenitor cell types, suggesting novel roles in hematopoiesis and leukemia development.
The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree and a record of scientific productivity. Candidates may come from any area of biomedical research. Candidates with a background in biochemistry or molecular biology who would like to study metabolism in vivo are particularly encouraged to apply.
