The Tollkuhn Lab has an open position for a postdoctoral researcher to develop projects on hormonal regulation of gene expression in the brain.
The lab studies the transcriptional mechanisms of nuclear receptors in the context of brain development, behavior, and disease. Gonadal hormones such as estrogen are the principal regulators of sex differences in the vertebrate brain, but the genes regulated by hormone receptors in the brain remain largely unexplored. Our lab has recently identified the first direct targets of estrogen receptor alpha in the brain (pre-print on bioRxiv), providing candidates that underlie the diverse effects of estrogen on brain development and behavior. We now seek a colleague who can expand on this line of research.
Applicants should have completed, or be near completion of, a Ph.D. in a relevant field. Expertise in generating transcriptomic and epigenomic data is required, experience with data analysis (Python/R programming, data visualization) is preferred, an ability to learn these skills is essential.
Applications must include a CV, a description of past and future research interests, and contact information for 3 references. Candidates from non-traditional and/or underrepresented backgrounds, broadly defined, are strongly encouraged to apply.
