The Mass Spectrometry Shared Resource of the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is seeking a Research Associate/Lab Manager to participate in all laboratory activities ranging from instrumentation maintenance, sample processing, and mass spectrometry-based proteomic methods development.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Be an active part of the CSHL scientific community;
Contribute to develop novel analytical methods;
Implement and test new proteomic techniques as they are published.
Perform proteomic data analysis and reporting;
Operate Orbitrap mass spectrometers and nanoflow chromatographers;
Oversee and perform sample preparation and analysis;
Assist with instrument maintenance and quality control procedures;
Maintain and update written operative procedures and experimental protocols;
Help maintain commonly used equipment and resolve minor equipment problems;
Be an active member of highly collaborative and energetic group of mass spectrometrists.
Position Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Biotechnology, or related field required. Higher level degree such as Masters or PhD is preferred.
Skills/Experience: At least 3 years of demonstrable experience with mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography. Experience with mass spectrometry-based proteomic techniques and data analysis software is highly desirable but not required.
