Dr. Chaolin Zhang laboratory at Columbia Irving University Medical Center (CUIMC) has multiple postdoctoral openings to conduct studies of RNA regulatory circuitry in the mammalian nervous system.
The Zhang laboratory is part of the Department of Systems Biology, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics, the Center for Motor Neuron Biology and Disease at CUIMC. Using a multidisciplinary approach that tightly integrate biochemistry, molecular biology, genome engineering and high-throughput data analysis and integrative modeling, the Zhang Laboratory studies how proteins and RNA interact to form regulatory networks in the nervous system at the mechanistic and systems levels, how these networks contribute to intrinsic neuronal functional properties and how such properties are implicated in health and disease. The Zhang lab is an interdisciplinary team with members from diverse background. More information about the Zhang laboratory can be found at http://zhanglab.c2b2.columbia.edu.
Experimental Postdoc: Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or Molecular Neuroscience, or related fields. Desired previous experience (not all are required) includes RNA works, mice and/or mammalian cell culture, stem cells (ESC/iPSC) and neural differentiation, high-throughput sequencing related techniques and technology development.
Computational Postdoc: Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Computational or Systems Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Sciences or Physics, in two broad areas: i) Statistical machine learning and algorithm development; Experience in deep learning/convolutional neural networks is a plus. ii) Computational genomics, evolution and large-scale biological data analysis. Candidates should have a genuine interest in solving biological problems using quantitative approaches.
Applicants should send i) a cover letter briefly describing potential projects you are interested in and your previous experience; ii) a curriculum vitae; and iii) contacts of three references to Dr. Chaolin Zhang at email@example.com.
Columbia University is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer. Hiring is contingent upon eligibility to work in the United States. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
