CNeuromoMod training position in Human Affective Neuroscience
The Courtois project on neuronal modelling (CNeuroMod), is looking for a PhD student or Postdoctoral Fellow with prior training in human affective neuroscience. The successful candidate will work on a project using human neuroimaging and extensive physiological data to train artificial neural networks to behave in a more flexible, human-like manner. This project builds on a research platform integrating behavioral and physiological monitoring to develop brain models informed by dynamic changes in peripheral activity. Brain-body interactions will be examined using classical psychophysiological methods combined with fMRI to study emotion and affect regulation during standardized cognitive-affective, and more ecological conditions, such as watching movies and playing video-games.
The desired candidate is a motivated individual willing to work in a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary environment. Specific tasks will involve acquiring human physiological data in fMRI projects, and developing efficient signal processing pipelines to be applied in a variety of neuroimaging research contexts. The candidate is also expected to work closely with research teams with expertise in machine learning and AI, and she/he will have opportunities to build on, and/or develop these skills.
Education and experience requirements
● Prior training in Affective Neuroscience or Biomedical Engineering
● Expertise in human physiological signal processing
● Knowledge of Matlab and/or Python programing
● Team-oriented; excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
● Experience in fMRI, multivariate pattern analysis, computational modeling, and/or machine learning are all assets
Start duration and salary
The position is available immediately and involves a collaboration between the laboratory of Pierre Rainville ( LaNeP 3 ) and Pierre Bellec ( SIMEXP ), at the Centre de Recherche de l’Institut Universitaire de Gériatrie de Montréal CRIUGM. Funding is available for 1 year, renewable, but selected candidates are expected to apply for external bursaries.
Please send a cover letter stating your research interests and experience, along with a CV and the contact information for two references to email@example.com. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
