The Skeletal Muscle Development and Regeneration Laboratory (PI: Colin Crist, Associate Professor, McGill University) has an immediate position for a full-time research assistant and laboratory manager to support ongoing research projects in the lab. The lab is located at the Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research at the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal, Canada. As an academic laboratory driven by the activity of graduate students and post-doctoral fellows, contribution to training is an important component of the position. We benefit from diversity in the laboratory and encourage applications from people from all backgrounds and identities.
About the lab:
We are interested in the molecular mechanisms that regulate muscle progenitor and stem cell function within the context of developing and regenerating skeletal muscle. We use genetics and mouse models of muscular dystrophy to unravel stem cell contribution to skeletal muscle regeneration in health and disease. Please see our laboratory website for more information: www.cristlab.com.
Position details:
Support ongoing research projects in the lab. We will initially provide training in the core experimental procedures used in the laboratory. These include muscle stem cell isolation and culture, cryosections, and preparation of samples for analysis by immunofluorescence. The research assistant will be responsible for carrying out these experiments in support of research trainees working in the lab.
Animal husbandry. All laboratory members participate in mouse care and handling, genotyping and husbandry, with support from the laboratory research assistant. Help with animal use protocols and to ensure that all lab members follow animal care guidelines.
