A post-doctoral position is available in the Division of Cellular and Molecular Pathology working within the laboratory of Dr Paolo D’Avino, to undertake a research project investigating the regulation and function of the midbody by phosphorylation (see Capalbo et al., 2019, Nature Communications, 10:4513; and D’Avino and Capalbo, 2016, Seminars in Cell and Developmental Biology, 53:57-63).
Candidates should have a PhD and a track record of success in molecular and cellular biology research. Considerable experience in human cell culture, molecular biology, CRISPR gene editing, and microscopy is essential. Experience in affinity purification coupled with mass spectrometry and computational biology (i.e., network and database construction and analysis) would be an advantage.
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team, coupled with excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills is required. Other duties/responsibilities include developing and driving research objectives, writing up work for presentation and publication, and assisting in the supervision of undergraduate and graduate student research projects.
The post is available for three years starting from the 1st September 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter and subject to a probationary period.
