Postdoctoral Scholar – Computational Electrophysiology
Grandi Lab and Morotti Lab, Department of Pharmacology
University of California Davis
The Grandi Lab and the Morotti Lab at the Department of Pharmacology, University of California Davis, seek two Postdoctoral Scholars to develop computational multi-scale models of cardiac and vascular smooth signaling and electrophysiology. The labs utilize computational approaches and theory to study molecular, cellular, and tissue-level mechanisms that mediate cardiovascular responses to stress and to identify targeted pharmacological approaches to arrhythmia and cardiovascular dysfunction. The Postdoctoral Scholars will perform research on NIH-funded research projects aimed at developing biophysically-detailed descriptions of heterocellular cardiac and vascular cells and tissue. A unique aspect of the roles will be to become key members in the lab for coordinating with experimental collaborators both in the department and outside.
Candidates must hold a PhD in bioengineering, applied math, physics, biophysics, or closely related fields by the start date and lead-author publication(s) in computational biology. Candidates must also have strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Prior experience in cardiac modeling and MATLAB/C++ programming is preferred. Some experience with experimental cell electrophysiology is a plus.
For questions about the position and/or to apply, please send a CV, cover letter, and contact information for three references to: firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com. The positions will remain open until filled. Salary depends on experience, in accordance with NIH Guidelines (and is negotiable, starting at least at NIH minimum).
The University of California Davis is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer. Women, minorities, veterans and persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
