Postdoctoral Fellow, del Mármol lab Full-time

The del Mármol lab at Harvard Medical School is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to study the structural basis of odor detection and discrimination. Dr. del Mármol’s recent work provided the first structural characterization of odor recognition by olfactory receptors (del Marmol et al., Nature, 2021). Current work in the del Mármol lab focuses on the structural mechanisms of sensory transduction, with an emphasis on understanding how insect vectors of disease detect human odors. We use cryo-electron microscopy and a variety of biochemical, electrophysiological, and in vivo assays.

Candidates should have (or will shortly be awarded) a PhD degree with a background in structural biology or biochemistry, and a strong interest in molecular neurobiology. Prior experience in single-particle EM or structural biology of membrane proteins is advantageous. The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. del Mármol and receive extensive training and mentoring. In addition, the closely-knit academic community at Harvard University and the vibrant scientific atmosphere of the Boston area offer numerous opportunities for collaborations and career development.
