The Human Immune Monitoring Center (HIMC), Division of Precision Immunology Institute (PrIISM) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai leverages powerful technology platforms to provide comprehensive immune profiling services for a diverse range of clinical and translational research studies. Our assays generate large suite of analytics services that rely on state-of-the-art-software. We are expanding and have an immediate opening for an Associate Researcher I.
The candidate will work with a team of scientists and technicians on projects related to various disease including cancer, IBD, neuroscience etc. This is an exciting opportunity to gain deep familiarity with a broad range of complex technologies and biological data types, while making a real impack at the forefront of translational immunology.
This is an exempt entry level laboratory research position, responsible for conduct of routine and assisting in routine and standardized experiments using techniques specific to the assigned research project under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or a senior researcher. The candidate typically conducts laboratory research and the position may include lab and clerical support. S/he analyzes and assists in interpreting research outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Conducts routine and standardized experiments using appropriate research techniques specific to subject matter of the research project.
2. Analyzes and assists in interpreting laboratory results of moderate complexity.
3. Performs assays to support research studies.
4. Maintains laboratory environment and assists in the upkeep of appropriate inventory, may include ordering of supplies.
5. Logs and tests samples, prepares and submits laboratory materials and specimens for shipment.
6. Assists in the collection, analysis and review of experimental data for publication and presentation.
7. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1-2 years of research/laboratory experience.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors or Masters degree in science with an emphasis on cellular biology and basic knowledge of general molecular/cell biology lab techniques and biospecimen processing for the downstream fit-for-purpose platform mainly flow (Fortessa and Aurora) and mass cytometry (CyTOF). Experience with human biospecimen processing would be ideal but is not required, since full platform-specific training on all the biological assay platforms will be provided. Experience with Python and/or R would be a strong asset for the position.
