Applications are invited for a postdoc position in the Filizola Lab at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, in New York City, USA. The laboratory is best known for contributing rigorous mechanistic insight into the structure, dynamics, and function of important classes of membrane proteins and prominent drug targets, including – but not limited to – G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), transporters, channels, and b3 integrins. Our ultimate goal is to use this information to revolutionize drug discovery. To this end, we use several computational structural biology and artificial intelligence (AI)-based approaches, including molecular dynamics simulations, enhanced sampling methods, machine learning, deep learning, free-energy perturbations, molecular modeling, etc.
We are seeking applications from researchers with a solid machine learning/deep learning knowledge, expert programming skills, strong analytical ability, and hands-on experience in AI drug discovery, enhanced molecular dynamics simulations, free energy calculations, and Markov State Models. Proven expertise in computational approaches for drug design such as virtual screening, docking, pharmacophore analysis etc. is also desirable though not required. These researchers will join current efforts in the lab aimed at integrating a variety of computational biology and AI-based approaches to enhance membrane protein drug discovery, benefitting from an environment that considers teamwork, collaboration, intentional career preparation, diversity, and inclusion key drivers of a successful postdoctoral experience.
The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. degree in Physics, Chemistry, Biophysics, Theoretical/Computational Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline. Strong communication skills, and an ability to both collaborate with peers and train junior colleagues effectively are also required. The position is available immediately.
