One or two postdoctoral positions in computational biology are immediately available in Dr. Guo-Cheng Yuan Lab at the Department of Genetics and Genomic Sciences and Institute for Personalized Medicine, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York.
The postdoctoral fellow will play a critical role in a collegial and growing team whose research focuses on understanding the role of tissue microenvironment in brain, cancer, and immunological diseases and the mechanisms of gene regulation and cell-cell interactions. The fellow will develop innovative and generally-applicable computational tools for analyzing use cutting-edge spatial transcriptomic and single-cell multiomic datasets. The lab does not have its own experimental component but has long-standing collaborations with a number of external experimental groups. In these collaborations we have made significant contributions in development of applications of a number of technologies, such as seqFISH+, single-cell RNA-seq, and CUT&RUN. The postdoctoral fellow is expected to continue this tradition by interacting with and learning from a highly interdisciplinary team of experts including bioinformaticians, bioengineers, basic biologists and physicians.
We welcome applicants who possess strong analytical and programming skills and are passionate about solving important problems in biology and human diseases. Prior knowledge in bioinformatics and experience in analyzing genomic datasets are desired but not necessary. The successful candidate is expected to work both independently and collaboratively.
The term for these positions is for two years and may be continued contingent on successful progress and available funding. A competitive salary, benefits and travel opportunities will be offered commensurate with experience and qualifications.
