POSTDOC POSITIONS IN SINGLE-CELL BIOLOGY
Multiple positions are available after August 2022 in the Ma Lab (https://saimalab.com) in the Department of Genetics and Genomic Sciences at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in the heart of New York City.
What We Do
Our work involves innovating experimental and computational tools to investigate epigenetic mechanisms of gene regulation in single-cells across dynamic cell fate transitions. The importance of our work is in helping to understand the molecular mechanisms and functional implications in the normal development and diverse diseases. Leveraging cutting-edge technologies and large cohorts of disease samples, our research directions include but are not limited to technology development, gene regulation, cell fate mapping, and disease mechanism investigation.
More specifically, we are keen on developing experimental sequencing tools—SHARE-seq, MID-RRBS, SurfaceChIP-seq, and Spatial-ATAC-seq—to profile the epigenomes and transcriptomes within rare populations, single-cells or in situ (Cell 2020; Sci. Adv. 2018; Nat. Biomed. Eng. 2018; bioRxiv 2021). We also build computational workflows (Nature Commun. 2020; Cell 2020; Nature Methods 2020) and apply these tools to investigate cell fate determination (Nat. Neurosci. accepted) and perturbed cell states (Nature 2021; Nature 2020), such as tumor progression (Cancer Discovery 2021; Cancer Cell 2020).
Your Qualifications
Postdoc candidates should have a Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D. degree in cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, genomics, bioengineering, biomedical engineering, computational biology, or related field. BA/BS or MA/MS will be considered for Research Associate. Candidates with computational and/or experimental background are both welcome. He/she should have the ability to work independently and communicate with colleagues with varying expertise.
Instructions
Applicants who are interested in this position should email 1) a brief summary of research interests 2) a CV, including a complete list of publications, 3) names and contact information of three references to Dr. Ma (masai.zju@gmail.com). We look forward to seeing you in NYC!
Life at Mount Sinai
Mount Sinai offers an exciting research environment that is highly collaborative and has world-class shared research facilities. Mount Sinai is recently ranked #11 in the Best Medical Schools by US news. The Department ranked #2 in the country in NIH funding in genetics research in 2021.
Our lab endeavors to build a supportive and collaborative training environment, giving opportunities for the trainee to gain experimental and/or computational expertise. A competitive salary will be provided based on your quantifications to compensate for the cost of living. A number of benefits are available, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, along with a variety of life insurance and disability plans. Incoming Postdoctoral Fellows are eligible to apply for Mount Sinai housing within easy walking distance of Mount Sinai. National and international conference opportunities will be provided, as well as fellowship opportunities.
