IDIBELL-University of Barcelona is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join our new group in the Regenerative Medicine Program (Rovira’s Group: Pancreas regeneration: pancreatic progenitors and their niche) at IDIBELL and Department of Physiological Science at UB-Bellvitge
The laboratory of Dr. Meritxell Rovira is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to comprehensively characterization new pancreatic ductal populations identified in the lab by scRNAseq both in vivo and in vitro to obtain new beta cells to induce normoglycemia in diabetic mice, this project has been funded by «Proyectos I+D+i» 2019 – Modalidades «Retos Investigación» y «Generación de Conocimiento» from Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación.
IDIBELL is a research center that integrates the biomedical research of the Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB), the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), and the University of Barcelona in the Bellvitge Campus (UB) and the Viladecans Hospital (HV), located in south Barcelona.
The research focuses of IDIBELL are cancer, neuroscience, and translational medicine; research, innovation and society are the pivots on which researchers work every day to improve the quality of life of citizens.
IDIBELL is located in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, south of Barcelona. It is a member of the Campus of International Excellence of the University of Barcelona HUBc and part of the CERCA institution of the Generalitat of Catalonia. In 2009, it became one of the first five Spanish research centers accredited as a health research institute by the Carlos III Institute of Health. More recently, the European Commission has recognized IDIBELL with the HRS4R logo (Excellence in Human Resources in Research), which identifies IDIBELL as a provider and supporter of a stimulating research work environment.
The candidate will be involved in a comprehensive characterization of new pancreatic ductal populations identified in the lab by scRNAseq both in vivo and in vitro to obtain new beta cells to induce normoglycemia in diabetic mice with the goal to develop new regenerative therapies for diabetic patients. On the other hand, he will supervise master students and PhD students.
Education: We are seeking highly motivated and dynamic scientist to pursue a career in biomedical research who has a proven track record and a PhD in the fields of Cellular and Molecular Biology, Biomedicine, Stem Cell Biology, Regenerative Medicine or related fields.
Additionally, we will value the following skills:
· Experience in organoid cultures
· Experience in flow cytometry
· Experience with animal models
· Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with others as a team player
· Good oral and written communication skills in English
Meritxell Rovira’s research group belongs to the regenerative medicine program at IDIBELL and the Department of Physiology at UB-Bellvitge. The lab investigates the role of pancreatic progenitors in pancreas regeneration using in vivo models (mouse and zebrafish) and in vitro organoid cultures from mouse and human samples.
The lab offers a Postdoctoral position for 2 years funded by «Proyectos I+D+i» 2019 – Modalidades «Retos Investigación» y «Generación de Conocimiento» from Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación.
The starting date is planned for February 2021 but can be agreed upon.
