The Molecular Mechanism of Chromosome Dynamics group headed by Daniele Fachinetti (https://science.institut-curie.org/team-fachinetti) is recruiting a post-doctoral researcher, highly motivated to work in fundamental research aimed at fighting cancer.
Our research program utilizes complex and unique interdisciplinary approaches that integrate molecular and cell biology, state-of-the-art imaging, cytogenetic analysis, locus-specific proteomic approaches, biochemistry, bioinformatic pipelines and biophysics on DNA/chromatin to study pathways that control genome stability in human cells, from DNA replication to mitosis.
Specifically, the selected candidates will study the causes and consequences of centromere aberrations in cancer and emerging connections between centromeres and immune-sensors, senescence and aging using multi-level, interdisciplinary approaches. These projects will benefit from frequent interactions with expert cancer cell biologists (Stern and Waterfall teams) and immunologists (Manel team) at Institut Curie.
The Institut Curie, situated in the center of Paris, is one of the world’s leading institutions in the fields of cell biology, soft matter physics, developmental biology, genetics and cancer biology (consisting of about 85 groups and 900 people). It represents an excellent and international environment to perform multidisciplinary research supported by a strong network of technological platforms.
Previous expertise in DNA sequencing and bioinformatic analysis, single molecule technologies aimed to studying DNA, good knowledge in microscopy and/or genome-wide analysis approaches are beneficial, but not a requirement. The successful applicant must have, or be in the process of completing, a doctorate in a relevant research area and a primary research paper in a peer-reviewed journal.
