Offer: the Laboratory of Dr. Vincent Goffin at INEM (Institut Necker Enfants Malades) is looking for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Fellow to take on an exciting translational project aimed to develop new therapeutic strategies for prostate cancer.
Start Date: end 2022 (some flexibility). The position is offered for one year with the possibility for extension of an additional two years.
Keywords: prostate cancer, CRPC, resistance to treatment, stem/progenitor cells, cell plasticity, therapeutic targeting, organoids, mouse models, human tissue collections.
The project builds on solid data involving the recent discovery by our group of luminal progenitor cells (so-called LSCmed cells) that combine castration-tolerance, stem/progenitor properties and tumor-initiating capacities (Baurès et al, Nature Reviews Urology 2022). The project will use preclinical models of prostate cancer including transgenic mice, mouse and human primary cell cultures and cell lines, and human tissue biocollection. This project involves established collaborative networks gathering biologists, urologists, pathologists and bioinformaticians, and is funded by INCa (French National Institute of Cancer).
The host laboratory has >25 yr international visibility in onco-endocrinology and develops research projects related to the resistance to treatment of hormone-dependent cancers (breast and prostate). The group involves 16-18 people including staff basic scientists and clinicians (urologist, endocrinologist), tenure engineers, post-docs and graduate/undergraduate students.
The candidate (m/f) should be highly motivated, self-driven, independent and creative, with required expertise in mouse studies (including level 1 accreditation), bioinformatics (personal knowledge will be upgraded by local bioinformaticians as needed) and molecular/cellular biology (histology, IHC/IF, cell sorting, cell culture, organoids, qPCR, immunoblots, …). Previous expertise in oncology and/or prostate pathophysiology and/or spatial transcriptomics is an advantage.
