The Wai Lab in the Department of Cell Biology and Infection at the Institut Pasteur in Paris is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow interested in rare diseases. We have a number of projects focused on identifying modifiers of mitochondrial diseases. There will be opportunities to work on modifier screens, drug repurposing, & functional analyses in cells & mice. Our projects employ approaches in cell biology and image analysis, biochemistry, integrative physiology, and omics. This is a great opportunity for a postdoc to lead and drive several of these projects.
The Wai lab is well equipped for in vitro investigations of mitochondrial and cell physiology and in vivo animal studies. The Institut Pasteur is the top research life science research institute in France, with 10 Nobel Laureates. Situated in the center of Paris, Institut Pasteur campus of Paris hosts about 3,000 persons of which 2000 are scientists (permanent scientific staff, engineers, students and postdoctoral fellows) of over 60 nationalities. Research is conducted by 135 laboratories (including five-year junior groups), three “laboratories of excellence” (LabEx), 15 technological platforms, 16 National Reference Centers (NRC).
1) Ph.D. in genetics, cell biology, biochemistry, or related field
Desired Qualifications (one or more):
1) Experience with mouse handling and physiology
2) Experience with CRISPR/Cas9 and cell culture
3) Experience with primary neuronal cultures or iPSC
4) Knowledge of cell biology or biochemistry
5) Knowledge of programming (e.g., R)
1) Cover Letter detailing previous research and interest in our lab (1 page max)
