Position Summary: The Aguirre Lab at Michigan State University focuses on investigating the pathways that control development, regeneration and cell fate, with an emphasis on the cardiovascular system. Our final goal is to understand and harness the regenerative power within our own cells and organs for therapy. The primary goal of the successful candidate will be to characterize the role of novel bioactive lipid signaling molecules and pathways in cardiovascular development and stem cell differentiation. This will involve work with human iPSCs, transcriptomics, heart organoids and mouse models. The environment in the Aguirre Lab is highly multidisciplinary and collaborative. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in related secondary projects and collaborations with other IQ labs. We are highly committed to the academic and professional development of our trainees.
The Aguirre lab is located in the brand-new Institute for Quantitative Health Science and Engineering (IQ) at MSU and has a strong core of leading scientists working collaboratively across broad disciplines including: neuroengineering, motion analytics, developmental biology and stem cell biology, systems biology, synthetic biology, regenerative medicine, chemical biology and biomedical devices. Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in cell biology, biochemistry, chemistry, genetics, physiology, biomedical engineering or related life disciplines.
Desired Qualifications: Candidates must have demonstrated cell and molecular biology experience, excellent oral and written communication skills, and exceptional attention to detail. A background or previous experience in iPSC culture, cardiac development and/or mouse models will be beneficial.
