The Mechanisms of Cardiac Regeneration and Repair lab is inviting applications for PhD/Postdoctoral positions. Our lab is interested in deciphering molecular and cellular mechanisms of cardiac regeneration and repair using zebrafish and mouse as model systems. We use a combination of -OMICS, in vivo, and in vitro approaches to understand i) the transcriptional and epigenetic networks regulating cardiomyocyte regeneration and ii) how intercellular communication contributes to cardiomyocyte repopulation of injured tissue. Our ultimate goal is to use this knowledge to develop and improve therapeutic strategies to treat heart disease. We are searching for motivated candidates to be part of our international and vibrant team.
Our lab is embedded within the Institute of Experimental Cardiology at Heidelberg University Hospital, as part of the newly established Innovation Campus Rhein-Neckar Region. The two medical faculties of Heidelberg University have joined forces to substantially expand cardiovascular research in the emerging fields of CardioScience and AngioScience. As such, successful candidates will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and equipment and the opportunity to establish exciting collaborations within the Heidelberg and Mannheim scientific communities. We offer a competitive salary (TV-L 13: 65% for PhD candidates and 100% for Postdocs) based on your previous work experience, following the collective agreement applicable to Heidelberg University, and a supportive, flexible, and friendly work environment.
Your Profile
· Master’s or PhD degree in a related field
· Previous experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, -OMICS, confocal imaging, tissue culture and/or animal models will be viewed favorably
· Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
· Ability to work effectively in a team
· Self-motivated and an innovative/creative thinker
Please send a motivation letter outlining your research background and interests, as well as a CV and contact information for two references, as a single PDF to Dr. rer. nat. Arica Beisaw (arica.beisaw@mpi-bn.mpg.de). More information about our lab can be found at beisawlab.com.
Applications will be reviewed starting on June 1, 2022. We look forward to your application!
