In the field of “Aging and Disease” and “Bioinformatics & Computational Biology”, the IPP research group of Prof. Dr Wolfram Ruf offers the following PhD project:
The hematopoietic system is maintained by a constant replenishment of blood cells from stem and progenitor populations in the bone marrow. Megakaryocytes are a key cell type in the bone marrow that generate blood platelets as well as maintain hematopoietic stem cells and the output of lineage committed progenitors. Platelet transcriptomics is an approach to gain insight into the differentiation and function of megakaryocytes in inflammatory diseases and aging. The cross species comparison of transcriptomes from genetically modified mice subjected to diseases models with human samples can yield new mechanistic insights in diseases processes that involve the hematopoietic system and its regulation by coagulation proteases and their cognate G protein-coupled receptors.
PhD Project: Platelet transcriptomics: from mice to man
This is a project focused on bioinformatics with the goal to analyze available large data sets and perform comparison with data sets available publically.
