A PhD student position is available in the “Development, Wiring and Function of Cerebellar Circuits” laboratory at the Institute of Neuroscience of Alicante (http://in.umh-csic.es).
Our group is interested in understanding how early alterations of the cerebellum are related to diverse neurodevelopmental disorders. The questions we pursue are grounded in determine, from a developmental perspective, how cerebellar abnormalities result in an alteration of the global brain function.
The position is funded by the ERC Starting Grant 2020 “Cerebellar Control of Cortical Development (CERCODE)”Ref: 950013. The candidate will investigate how early cerebellar alterations impact in the development of cortical circuits.
The project will use a multidisciplinary approach that combines mouse genetics, experimental embryology techniques, 3D light-sheet microscopy, viral tracings, transcriptomics and functional analysis.
We are looking for a highly-motivated candidate. She/He must hold a master degree in Neurosciences or related disciplines. Previous experience in neuroscience, mice handling, viral tracings or calcium imaging would be positively evaluated.
The candidates should be committed to apply to diverse competitive PhD fellowships. A strong academical record (average academical grade over 8/10 or 2.5/4) would be an advantage.
The position is initially funded for 3 years. The start date is flexible (ideally during the summer of 2021).
