Laboratory Research Focus
The lab is focused on developing new prognostic biomarkers for liver cancer. Our research combines molecular, genetic, and clinical data analysis to develop new prognostic tests that improve therapeutic options for patients with liver cancer, primarily hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The lab has a specific focus on liquid biopsy which includes isolation of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) from patients with subsequent downstream analysis using rt-PCR, single-molecule RNA FISH and multiplex immunofluorescent assay. Our work has a high translational component correlated to clinical outcomes in patients with HCC undergoing treatments, including liver transplantation and immunotherapy.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
Highly motivated candidates with a Ph.D. or equivalent degree with at least one publication as first author are encouraged to apply. A strong background in molecular biology, IHC/IF assays, and confocal microscopy is welcome. The candidate must be able to work collegially with others and is expected to hold themselves to the highest ethical standards. Women and minorities are particularly encouraged to apply.
The lab is a part of the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
