The Leung lab at Johns Hopkins is looking for a virologist to develop antivirals against coronavirus in a collaborative, milestone-driven Industry–Academia setting. This position is guaranteed for two-year funding, with the possibility of renewal till 2025. Competitive salary is offered based on experience.
The candidate will work with a multidisciplinary team of seasoned drug developers from Industry to establish a novel, first-in-class drug discovery and development program. Particularly, the virologist will work closely in the Leung Lab at Johns Hopkins University with a senior virologist, a biochemist and a lab manager. Together, we will develop and execute assays to identify antivirals in cell and animal models as well as discover the mechanism of action behind the drug target.
The ideal virology candidate should have prior experiences in virology and ability to perform effectively in a team environment. The position includes work in biosafety level (BSL)-2 and BSL-3 laboratories. Experiences with coronavirus or other positive strand RNA virus, replicon, infectious virus assay, animal model, or BSL3 are a plus.
This position is ideal for candidates who are interested to progress in academia or those who would like to explore transitions from academic to industry positions.
