Applications are invited for NIH-funded postdoctoral positions at The University of Chicago investigating the design principles of cellular plasticity that facilitate immune defense and self tolerance. The successful candidates will join an energetic, collaborative group studying the molecular underpinnings of chromatin states and corresponding gene network dynamics that mediate T cell repertoire selection and T cell effector functions, in homeostasis and disease. We use primary human tissues, mouse models and cell lines as model systems. Our approaches include integrated multi-omics such as combined scATAC-seq + scRNA-seq, clonal lineage tracing + scRNA-seq, CITE-seq, as well as Cut & Run, chemical-induced proximity, mass spectrometry, cryo-EM, and computational modeling.
The successful candidate will have the flexibility to develop their own line of research with support from the PI. Mentorship opportunities are available to train students at all levels. The successful candidate will be working in an expansive, newly renovated research space and be part of a vibrant, world-class research community, fully integrated in the Committees on Genetics, Genomics, and Systems Biology (ggsb.uchicago.edu), Immunology (immunology.uchicago.edu), Cancer Biology (cancerbio.uchicago.edu), and Biophysical Sciences (biophysics.uchicago.edu). The candidate must have a Ph.D. in a relevant field, e.g. epigenetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics, computer science, immunology, and bioengineering. A first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal is strongly preferred but not required. The candidate must be self-driven, with excellent communication and organizational skills, and high capacities for focus and attention to detail.
