The selected candidate will join the Laboratory of Data Discovery for Health, a start-up company incorporated by The University of Hong Kong (HKU) that is led by senior faculty members of the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine at HKU to develop the next-generation AI technologies for public health and medicine.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in computer science, information system, artificial intelligence or other related fields, with proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: C/C++, JAVA or Python. They should be experienced in machine learning algorithms, pattern recognition, and/or natural language processing. Knowledge and experience in developing conversational agents (chatbots) and social media analytics are highly desirable. Applicants should have the capacity and potential of high-quality, collaborative and impactful research demonstrated by a good track record of academic publications or industrial achievements.
The appointee will work closely with world-leading researchers from: (i) the Vaccine Confidence Project in the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine to develop AI analytics for monitoring the emergence and spread of vaccine misinformation and anti-vaccination propaganda; and (ii) Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health to develop cutting-edge AI-assisted multiplex serology platforms for a wide range of infectious diseases.
