Medizinische Klinik I (Kardiologie)
Scope of duties
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate to fill a PhD student position in cardiovascular immunology in the research group of Prof. Christian Schulz at the Ludwig Maximilians University Hospital Munich. Our group is interested in diverse aspects of macrophage biology, from their origin and developmental paths to the mechanisms relevant for cardiovascular disease. This project will investigate how the cellular metabolism in different macrophage subsets shapes their effector functions in inflammation and atherosclerosis. To tackle this question, the successful candidate will use novel mouse models, in vitro RNA knockdown models, confocal microscopy, multi-parameter flow cytometry and cutting-edge technologies, including metabolomics and single-cell transcriptomics. Our overall aim is to understand the interplay of metabolic flux and inflammatory functions in macrophages at the site of inflammation.
