We are looking for two enthusiastic young scientists to fill two fully funded 4 yr PhD scholarships for research in the area of Computational Glycoscience based in the Department of Chemistry and in the Hamilton Institute at Maynooth University, Ireland. The exciting projects, supported by a network of international collaborators, involve work at the crossroads of computing and experiment, during which the candidates will develop a strong background in biomolecular simulations, ab-initio calculations, and machine learning for applications in complex carbohydrates structure and function, glycoanalytics, and database development. Starting date is November 1st, 2021.
The ideal candidate will have a BSc (or MSc) in the broad areas of Chemistry, Biology/Bioinformatics, Computer Science and/or Mathematics and Statistics with a keen interest in understanding life science at the molecular scale and a positive disposition for teamwork. Experience in computer programming/scripting is highly beneficial. The two PhD students in our Computational Glycoscience lab will join a vibrant, interdisciplinary, and highly diverse community of young scientists based in the Department of Chemistry and in the Hamilton Institute’s SFI Centre for Research Training (CRT) in Foundations of Data Science.
The interested candidates should send a CV (max 2 page), a cover letter, transcripts and contact information for two referees to Dr Elisa Fadda (email@example.com) on or before Sept 20th, 2021.
