I am seeking a highly motivated individual to join my laboratory on Mammalian Development and Tissue Hydraulics at the Mechanobiology Institute in the National University of Singapore. My laboratory aims to understand the mechano-chemical control of development during mammalian follicle development, using ex vivo mouse ovary and follicle culture.
I have recently launched my laboratory in January 2021. This provides an exciting prospect for a motivated postdoc to be involved in developing new research directions in this field. I am looking for candidates who are interested in applying interdisciplinary approaches to study the impact of mechanical stress and tissue hydraulics on follicle morphogenesis and oocyte quality control via mechanotransduction pathways.
The candidate will use advanced microscopy and develop biophysical approaches to quantify the mechanical interactions between the oocyte and its microenvironment. The candidate will develop biophysical, genetic, and synthetic approaches to dissect the interplay between mechanics and signalling that regulates the oocyte growth. He/she will have a chance to collaborate with theoreticians to develop quantitative models, and participate in ongoing collaborations with researchers abroad.
Requirements and Application:
Candidates with a PhD in biophysics, engineering, cell and developmental biology are welcome to apply. They should have a strong background in advanced confocal and/or light sheet imaging, image analysis, and some research experiences in mechanobiology and/or tissue biology. Prior knowledge of the mouse model is not a prerequisite but can be an advantage. The candidate should possess excellent communication skills and engage in collaborative research in a highly interdisciplinary environment.
Salary and benefits are commensurable to educational qualifications and working experience of the candidates. Applicants should email a description of research interests, a CV and the names of two to three references to Asst. Prof. Chan Chii Jou (email@example.com).
