TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, Biological Engineering-Hansen Lab, to join a lab that is interested in understanding the interplay between genome organization and regulation of gene expression in mammals and uses a combination of mammalian tissue culture, live-cell super-resolution fluorescence microscopy, molecular biology, biochemistry, genomics, and computational approaches towards this goal. This position will be ~75% research and ~25% lab general lab organizational duties. The research focus will be on understanding gene regulation in the context of 3D genome organization using a combination of cell culture, genome editing, genomics, imaging, and computational methods. The main responsibilities will include performing cloning of DNA constructs for genome-editing, genome-editing of human cells and tissue culture of human cells, and conducting biochemical experiments and high-resolution live-cell fluorescence microscopy experiments. Will also assist with general lab maintenance such as ordering and keeping track of laboratory supplies, maintaining lab inventory and fulfilling external reagent requests, and ensuring regulatory and safety compliance of lab and lab members among other tasks.
REQUIRED: B.A./B.S. degree in molecular or cell biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, or related; at least two years’ specialized lab experience (which may include experience gained as an undergraduate); understanding of modern molecular and cell biology; excellent organization skills; attention to detail; initiative and self-motivation for fulfilling tasks without being reminded; good written and oral communication skills; willingness to train and onboard new lab members and to learn and acquire new experimental and computational skills as necessary; and ability to ability to multitask, clearly document work and maintain an accurate lab notebook, and work both independently and in collaboration with lab members.
