My lab focuses on how mitochondria communicate with other organelles, using mammalian systems (cell culture, mouse models). We address questions related to several neurodegenerative diseases that are associated with organelle malfunction (mitochondria, lysosome, peroxisomes, ER).
The lab relocated to United States, and we are rebuilding the team. We seek two postdoctoral candidates that are interested in organelle biology. If you have experience in microscopy, live imaging, molecular biology, signaling pathways, lentivirus, those would all be a big plus. Most important is that you can document your previous experience and have a strong motivation to do top-notch science. Our former trainees have succeeded in finding suitable positions both in academia and industry, and our focus is to give you the tools that you need to suceed whatever the path you chose for your career.
The project will involve omics approaches (we have several transcriptome and metabolome datasets that we already analyzed and provide clear indications of the pathways to follow-up), cell manipulation (knock-downs, CRISPR KOs, transient and stable overexpressions), live imaging, functional organelle assays, and the thrill of following the data where it takes you. Our ultimate goal is to understand the signaling mechanisms that organelles use to communicate with each other, adapt to stress, and sometimes to cause diseases (if we know what causes the disease, we can try to block it).
Feel free to contact me for any questions.
My lab has traditionally been roughly 50%-50% female/male, and we try to keep that balance. We welcome colleagues that respect the value of science and the scientific process, from all cultures and geographic locations.
