We are currently looking for a detail-oriented, proactiveResearch Specialist – Flow Cytometryto work in the Moody Foundation Flow Cytometry Core facility under the direction ofDr. Sean Morrison at the Children’s Medical Center Research Institute (CRI), UT Southwestern in Dallas, Texas. The Morrison lab’s goal is to better understand the mechanisms that regulate stem cell function and how cancer cells hijack these mechanisms to enable tumor formation. The ideal candidate is an organized, proactive professional who will support the lab’s research in a specialized capacity with all aspects of flow cytometry, specimen analysis, core facility utilization scheduling, training, and day-to-day supervision of the Research Technician. This would be an excellent role for a scientifically-minded professional with strong flow cytometry experience who enjoys helping others build their technical skills and who is looking for a long-term stable position with a top-notch academic research facility.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Remaining in a normal seated or standing position for extended periods of time; reaching and grasping by extending hand(s) or arm(s); dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers, for example using a keyboard; communication skills using the spoken word; ability to see and hear within normal parameters; ability to move about workspace. The position requires mobility, including the ability to move materials weighing up to several pounds (such as a laptop computer or tablet). Work may involve possible exposure to malodorous vapors, low dose radiation, contamination by toxic chemicals and acids and presence of carcinogenic substances.
