Our working group is dedicated to research on the function of ‘a disintegrin and metalloproteinases’ (ADAMs) in acute and chronic inflammatory diseases. This includes both sterile inflammation and infection. TNF and ACE2, which are related to COVID-19, are e.g. two substrates from ADAM17. In collaboration with the working group of Prof. Volkhard Helms (Center for Bioinformatics, Saarland University), we combine “wet lab” and bioinformatics in order to identify new target structures for ADAM-directed treatment.
As part of a joint initiative with the Helmholtz Institute for Infection Research (HIPS) Saarbrücken, we are looking for a highly motivated doctoral candidate for a period of three years starting in October 2020. Besides common molecular biological and biochemical methods you will use qRT-PCR, gene chip analyzes, FACS and mass spectrometry for transcriptome and proteome analysis and evaluate their data in collaboration with the Helms group.
· MSc/equivalent for PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g. cell biology, biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology, pharmacy, pharmacology)
· Lab experience in cellular and molecular biology techniques.
· Team-worker with a high grade of responsibility and flexibility
How to apply: By email at firstname.lastname@example.org; send a short motivation letter, summary of master thesis, CV, contacts for two referees, transcripts.
