Performs and/or coordinates a wide range of laboratory research procedures and conducts a spectrum of complex support tasks and projects determined by the field and scope of the particular research study. Performs a variety of laboratory techniques independently and presents results.
About the Position:
An exciting opportunity is available for a Scientist in the Kennedy Lab within the Center of Excellence for Leukemia Studies (CELS). The Kennedy Lab is a translational research lab focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms of somatic clonal evolution in inherited bone marrow failure syndromes (IBMFS). These syndromes are collectively characterized by bone marrow failure and a marked predisposition to MDS/AML. The somatic mutations that occur in children with IBMFS are different from adult clonal hematopoiesis and require functional studies to better prognosticate and treat these disorders. Current studies are focused on creating in vitro models of specific somatic mutations and characterizing the effect on hematopoiesis and transformation.
The ideal candidate will be an ambitious, motivated scientist with strong organizational and leadership qualities. Expected to manage operational aspects of the lab projects and processes. Experience in basic methods of molecular and cellular biology and biochemistry is required. The ability to work efficiently, multitask and communicate effectively are integral to success in this position.
