Summary The Department of Developmental Neurobiology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (St. Jude) starts a new recruitment search that will focus on exceptional and creative scientists for a FACULTY position in our newly formed Division of Neuronal Cell Biology. We are seeking an investigator to lead a multidisciplinary research program applying cell biological, cutting-edge optical imaging and mechanistic approaches to decipher neuronal development and function. Areas of interest include mechanisms underlying genome organization, neuronal motility, axon or dendrite morphogenesis, physiology of neuronal trafficking events, synaptogenesis, cell biology of synaptic transmission, and how these processes occur in vivo systems or are perturbed in neurodevelopmental disorders. Early career investigators interested in contributing to a culture of excellence at St. Jude are particularly encouraged to apply.
St. Jude offers a highly interactive research environment with plentiful collaborative opportunities across our basic research and clinical departments, as well as access to state-of-the-art institutional shared resources managed by highly engaged Ph.D. level scientists. Developmental Neurobiology investigators have access to specialized departmental shared resources that include cutting edge live cell imaging, image processing & image data science, human stem cells, cell sorting and advanced animal behavior assessment. Our institutional commitment to lead in the cutting-edge imaging required for Neuronal Cell Biology includes investments in advanced systems like Lattice Light Sheet & MOSAIC microscopes, Helios and Teneo 3D electron microscopes, multiphoton microscopes with resonant scanning and optogenetic capabilities as well as a variety of super-resolution modalities.
We offer highly competitive packages, including substantial startup funds, equipment, laboratory space, personnel support and institutional support beyond the start-up phase. The department is in St. Jude’s Advanced Research Center, a new 625,000 Sq. ft. facility expressly designed to house cutting-edge technologies and resources to transform science and accelerate discoveries.
Faculty positions at the Associate Member level or above may be considered. Successful applicants may hold a PhD and/or MD degree, have at least three years of relevant postgraduate experience, and a demonstrated track record of productivity.
Applicants will be assessed on rolling basis throughout the fall.
Interested applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a 2-3 page summary of research interests, and the names of three references directly online or send to:
