About the lab and the position
The Yang Lab in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Yu Lab in the Department of Computational Biology are jointly recruiting a highly motivated postdoctoral research associate to work on systems biology projects related to pediatric leukemia. Our labs are interested in developing and implementing novel computational biology tools, including NetBID (Gocho et al., Nature Cancer 2021), by integrating multi-omics data at both bulk and single-cell levels, to dissect the signaling circuitry related to leukemia biology and drug response. The candidate will work along with pharmacologists, cancer biologists, and clinicians to analyze large-scale genomic datasets and to identify molecular drivers for a variety of leuekmia phenotypes, to develop novel therapy for children with this cancer. The successful applicant will work in a dynamic and productive environment with exposure to research from basic biology, preclinical drug evaluation, to clinical trial development.
About St. Jude and benefits
As one of the premier pediatric research institutions in the world, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital provides exceptional resources and a supportive environment for career development. As a postdoctoral fellow, you will interact with leaders in cancer and translational research within and outside the institution and at national/international meetings. Innovative research will be supported by the infrastructure in our labs with the goal of providing postdocs flexibility and freedom to develop their research programs.
St. Jude provides a highly interactive and supportive environment for researchers’ career development and has been named to Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work 2018. St. Jude is a top-ranked hospital and a world-class basic research institute with 260+ faculty members. St. Jude postdoctoral fellows are provided with a highly competitive salary in an affordable city, a professional development allowance ($1,875), and an array of benefits, including sign-on bonus, health, dental and vision coverage, and a retirement program.
About the candidate
Candidates must hold a doctoral degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent). Applicants with a PhD in a quantitative field (computational biology, bioinformatics, systems biology, genetics/genomics, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or related fields) are encouraged to apply. Strong candidates from a primarily wet-lab or clinical background who wish to develop sophisticated quantitative skills will also be considered. Successful candidates will have a track record of scientific productivity, e.g., a first author paper, or a demonstrable contribution to a large project. Experience in cancer genomics or pharmacology is desired.
