The Sellers Laboratory in the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology at Stanford University School of Medicine in Palo Alto, CA is seeking a motivated and accomplished Research Scientist with a PhD (or MD) to work closely with Dr. Sellers and his research team using human intestinal organoids to study ion transport in pediatric intestinal diseases (e.g., cystic fibrosis, inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease). The Sellers Laboratory uses a variety of methodologies including, but not limited to: Ussing chambers, short-circuit current, pH-stat, back-titration, RNA/DNA sequencing (single cell and bulk), and fixed and live cell imaging in cell/animal/human models. The laboratory is well funded, and Dr. Sellers is looking for a long-term partner to make impactful advances in the regulation of human intestinal ion channels/transporters. Experience with organoids, stem cells, 3D culture, and/or ion transport is desired.
The Research Scientist will be involved directly in the design, execution, and publication of research activities. The candidate will be expected to work independently under Dr. Sellers’ supervision and support with the expectation that the Research Scientist will publish first author manuscripts in well-regarded journals and give talks at national/international meetings. Additionally, the Research Scientist will help support Dr. Sellers in the teaching and supervision of junior researchers in the laboratory, including postdoctoral scholars, graduate and undergraduate students in the laboratory.
Dr. Sellers is currently an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Gastroenterology) and serves as the Associate Chief of Research in Pediatric Gastroenterology. Dr. Sellers is committed to the ongoing professional development of all of his lab members and welcomes applications from underrepresented professionals in science.
