Full-Time Lecturer in Forestry and Land & Food Systems at University of British Columbia Full-time
Applications are invited for a joint Lecturer position in the Faculties of Forestry and Land and Food Systems at the University of British Columbia. This is a full-time joint appointment for an initial term of up to three years, including a probationary first year. Lecturer positions are appointments without review (i.e. non-tenure track), renewable for successive terms, subject to availability of funds and demonstration of excellence in teaching and service, in accordance with the Collective Agreement between UBC and the UBC Faculty Association. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2021.
Required qualifications
A minimum of a Master’s degree (PhD preferred), and evidence of excellence and innovation in teaching are required for this appointment. Preference will be given to passionate and visionary candidates who show accomplishments or promise in the following areas:
Teaching of scholarly writing and argumentation
Pedagogical approaches that support EAL students
Teaching practice that incorporate diverse voices
Experience or familiarity communicating scientific content relevant to the undergraduate majors in the Faculties of Forestry and Land and Food Systems
Position details
In addition to the service components of the Lecturer position, responsibilities will include:
Teaching 21-24 credits per academic year in the first-year foundational writing course – LFS/FRST 150 Scholarly Writing and Argumentation — to students in both Faculties
Playing an integral role in the LFS/FRST 150 teaching team on both visionary and practical levels, helping to assess, adapt and build the curriculum to support student learning
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. All appointments are subject to budgetary approval.
