The School of Nursing at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver campus, invites applications for a part-time (0.8 FTE) position at the rank of Post-Doctoral Fellow. The position is for 12 months. Salary will be $50,000 per year.
Working directly with Dr. Jennifer Baumbusch, the Post-Doctoral Fellow will join a productive multi-disciplinary research group, inclusive of family and patient partners. The successful candidate will have a background in qualitative and quantitative research methods and a strong commitment to applied research that influences policy, practice, and health.
The role will be part of Dr. Baumbusch’s CIHR Chair in Sex and Gender Science focused on The Complexities of Caregiving in an Aging Society. Related research projects include an ongoing longitudinal qualitative study as well as research using data from the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging. Knowledge of home care policy and services, community-based supports for older adults, and family caregiving is an asset.
Responsibilities will include:
• Conduct data collection and analysis of qualitative research related to health and social supports for community-dwelling people living with dementia and their family caregivers.
• Prepare an application and conduct data analysis of a Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging datafile.
• Supervise research assistants and trainees who are assisting with data collection, analysis, writing, and additional research projects.
• Participate in collaborating on additional projects led by the Principal Investigator related to older adults and their family caregivers.
• Co-create knowledge translation outputs for a public audience (e.g. social media, infographics, web-based events).
• Develop and write manuscripts for peer-review publications.
• Contribute to the development of further grant applications.
• Other activities as required.
Job Qualifications:
• Completed a Ph.D. within the last 5 years in a relevant discipline (e.g. gerontology, nursing, medical anthropology, sociology, social work).
• Experience with qualitative and quantitative research.
• Advanced experience with data management and analysis software (e.g. Dedoose, NVivo, SPSS), as well as experience using word processing software (e.g. Microsoft Office) and reference managers.
• Experience working with co-researchers and community-engaged research.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Strong writing skills, experience with publishing academic journal articles preferred.
