Dr. Nicholas Banovich is an Assistant Professor in the Integrated Cancer Genomics Division at the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen). The Banovich lab is focused on understanding how changes in gene expression levels contribute to complex disease. Our work employs functional genomics, computational biology, population genetics, and molecular biology to understand how regulatory changes can alter complex phenotypes.
This candidate would lead projects in one of two major areas of interest in the lab: pulmonary fibrosis or CAR T cell therapy.
Detailed descriptions of our ongoing work are available here: https://www.banovichlab.org/projects-1/
The successful candidate will be expected to take a leadership role in ongoing projects as well as develop new research ideas. Specific duties will include, experimental design, data analysis, interpretation of results, and presentation of findings and preparation of peer-reviewed manuscripts.
At a minimum, the candidate will be required to have a Ph.D. in the areas of genetics, biology, or computational biology, and have a demonstrated publication record in the area of genomics.
We desire a candidate with experience in both experimental and computational approaches, with proficiency in at least one common programing language (preferably Python or R). However, we will accept candidates with only bioinformatics or computational biology expertise.
