The Lee lab in the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department at Tufts University is searching for several postdoctoral fellows to microbiome and metabolomics research.
One fellow would be working on a Multidisciplinary University Research Initiatives (MURI)-funded project studying the metabolism of mucin glycans by gut bacteria. Another fellow would be working on a collaboration sponsored by Merck & Co. that investigates host-microbe interactions. A third project will investigate microbially induced corrosion on submerged surfaces. A fourth project is to identify targets to improve bioprocesses for multi-specific antibody production.
Technical responsibilities of the fellows include design and execution of metabolomics and isotopic labeling experiments, and metabolic modeling. The principal project location is Tufts University’s Medford campus. Depending on the project, work will also be done in collaborating labs located in Cambridge, MA.
The projects will start early September. The project lengths vary and range from one to four years. A minimal commitment length of one year is expected for all positions.
About the lab:
We are diverse and creative group of people who have fun doing collaborative research. You can read more about the lab at https://sites.tufts.edu/tme2/.
The candidate should have an earned Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biotechnology, or related discipline. The ideal candidate will have a background in metabolic modeling, bioinformatics, programming, mass spectrometry, and mammalian cell culture. The candidate should be comfortable working in interdisciplinary teams of academic and industry scientists. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential qualifications.
How to apply:
Please send a cover letter and curriculum vitae (CV) . The cover letter should describe your interest in the lab’s research and highlight relevant research experience and other qualifications.
