The laboratory of Dr. Heather Machado is seeking a highly motivated, goal oriented and hardworking postdoctoral fellow (https://medicine.tulane.edu). An NIH-funded postdoctoral research position is available to study mammary gland development and stromal-epithelial interactions during tumor progression. Several genetic mouse models and cell culture tools will be used to understand macrophage-driven signaling pathways that regulate both normal mammary gland development and breast cancer progression. The postdoctoral fellow will conduct independent experiments, which includes experimental design, data collection and interpretation, presenting data and national meetings, manuscript preparation, and writing of a postdoctoral grant. Research experience in the areas of cell culture, RNA and protein analysis, basic molecular biology techniques, flow cytometry, and microscopy is required. Preference will be given to candidates with documented experience in animal models of breast tumorigenesis, mammary gland transplantation, and breast cancer biology.
Applicants must have, or will very soon obtain a PhD in cell and molecular biology, or related fields. Candidates should have at least one first author research paper in a peer-reviewed journal. Interested candidates should provide (1) a cover letter outlining your scientific interests, describing how you meet the requirements of the position, and an outline of future goals; (2) a curriculum vitae, (3) contact information for three references. Successful candidates will join a vibrant and productive group of researchers at Tulane School of Medicine/Louisiana Cancer Research Center in New Orleans, LA, a place of fun, flavor and good science. There is no place like New Orleans!
